John McCormick (1741-1811) who was born in Fort William, on the west coast of Scotland. He was a wealthy merchant. He died 1811 in either Fort William or Glasgow (depending upon the source). He was married four times: his third child by his first wife was Alexander.

Alexander McCormick was born ca. 1789 in Fort William and died in Puerto Rico in 1835. He married two sisters Ellen and Minnie Fitzpatrick. He appears not have had any children by Ellen, but had three sons by Minnie.

John Charles McCormick was the third son, (1832-1904) was born in Fort William and died in Auckland, New Zealand. His wife was Elizabeth Anne DeLoitte, daughter of William Salmon DeLoitte, a Sydney merchant.

One of his sons was Hector McCormick, who was born in Sydney, Australia in 1876 and died in Auckland, NZ in 1927. He was my mother's father.

I hope this is of some use to you in your research.

Best wishes,
Peter Spencer
