Johannes Gerrit Langeveld - Another son?

Can you clarify who you think might be a son of who?

This line is a mess, on GENI and on FS. According to South African genealogy department Johanna Is the sister of my grandfather Hendrik, daughter of Langeveld and Maas. However this couple also had a son by the same name of Jacobus Petrus. Now all the records are a muddle. The problem is that the Jacobus Petrus who married Johanna was not her brother but a cousin. His parents were the ones that witnessed the above Abigael's baptism. Langeveld and Van Laar.

I have a tree with these lines in it.

I put the above message on the discussions tab as I saw that Abigael van Laar and Johannes Langeveld were mentioned in the below baptism record:

This made me surmise that Johannes Langeveld and Abigael Rosina van Laar might be the child's grandparents. Neither mother nor father are listed as their child on Geni, so I looked further.

Jacobus Petrus Langeveld was born to Johannes Langeveld and Abigael Rosina van Lare and baptised on the 6 Sept 1795

Can you direct us to your tree that has the lines in it, since they are your close family? Is it your Ancestry.com tree? It would be helpful in order to visualize what you are saying, and to figure out how it matches up with the record information that Private User has provided.

Hey Michelle, I am at a loss here, what is the question?.
Indeed Petrus Jacobus was the son of Johannes Gert Langeveld and Abigail Rosina Van Laar. He married his cousin Johanna Willemina Langeveld daughter of Petrus Johannes Langeveld and Johanna Magdalena Wilhelmina Maas.
Petrus has a Probate record that for whatever reason only lists his youngest son, but he had 3 children. Records exist for all of them. Willemina, Abigail and Gert Carolus. I have corrected the FS site and all the documents are now correctly attached.

Wiki also has a profile as well and that has the DN for Petrus father and for Petrus himself.

oh I think I see what the issue was. For whatever reason Petrus Jacobus was not listed as the son of Johannes Gerrit (Gert) Langeveld. So Michelle asked the question whether he was a missing son..

Michelle you found the documents and you can find more of them of the FS profile for Petrus. But yes indeed a good deduction, Petrus was indeed the son of Johannes Gert Langeveld and the GENI profile needs to be changed to reflect this.

Michele thank you but please make sure you do not add the t to the end of Langeveld. That is a different line all together!

Oh and I think you did what I did. JACOBUS PETRUS LANGEVELD son of JOHANNES GERRIT LANGEVELD. Not Johannes Petrus. :)
