This misidentification is all over the internet, and is one of my greatest frustrations because there is clear documentation about Elizabeth Dunlap's family origin and death at sea before her family ever reaches America. You can read details about this other couple and their children here:

The Elizabeth Guthrie married to James Guthrie of Ireland, Maryland, and North Carolina has never been association with any documented maiden name. She is named in only a few records, the last of which is on 6 Nov 1810 when she and two sons-in-law sold property they had inherited upon the death of her husband James Guthrie. Afterward, the Madden and McMinamy families moved from NC to Humphreys and Rutherford, TN. Since we don't have a solid DOD for Elizabeth, it is entirely possible that she travelled with them and died in TN. Her DOD is most appropriately reported as "after 6 Nov 1810" and the location as (possibly) Orange County, NC, or Either Orange, NC or TN.
