I-PH908 has high frequency among South Slavs where also has high variance like in Eastern Europe. It is also present among West Slavs. It is related to the ethnogenesis of Early Slavs among whom tribes flourished in Slavic ancetral homeland moving in all directions and especially during Slavic migrations to the Balkans (mainly from the direction of Eastern Carpathians). In the Balkans today's high frequency is due to population bottleneck and several founder effects in the last 1500 years. The ancient origin of the mentioned branches is as such while the "modern" origin of TMRCA is probably local in the triangle of seen countries and considering surnames origin also related to local population migrations (since the surname Horvat means "Croat" or "someone from Croatia").
