Since it really doesn't add anything to the tree, and the original file is a MP that's been here for 15 years.

Elizabeth Eppes

Why send this to me? I am not a manager of the profile. There are 117 managers and a curator.

Looking at the two profiles, there are a few people who thin the profiles are the same and needed to be merged. If approved, that should solve the issue?

Merged.

There’s a discussion that draws curator attention:

ATTENTION Curators, please assist

If anything like this comes up in the future.

I know it is tempting to delete profiles but it really IS helpful to merge and make the necessary corrections, IMHO!
These represent log lasting mistakes that can sometimes ONLY die at Geni and they also represent NEW and unknown COUSINS who can be of much help in growing and expanding our shared knowledge of mutual ancestry.
Any time I know someone has deleted one of my profiles, I report it...
they were added for a reason
:)

*long not log :/

Another reason not to delete someone else’s profile, no matter now many duplicates, is that it freaks people out.

For duplicate trees in the historic tree such as Gedcom uploads, we do have a mechanism to isolate & send them to geni for deleting. But 1) this really only applies to trees, not single profiles 2) only after making sure the member has access to the Master Profile.

In this case, took me literally two seconds to merge. It would have taken me much longer to go through “isolate & send” protocol.

Thanks Erica.
