I'd love to get everything back to the way it was before someone started moving things around. John's parents are William Abner Strickland and Martha Brown. I can go through the entire lineage again... but I truly shouldn't have to. I understand making mistakes... but could we at least go back and fix what got messed up?

I will be honest and say that I have NO clue why John R. Strickland has an R.... maybe someone mistook the R.S. for an initial of his name.

People seem to keep on getting the two Strickland families crossed up. It goes from Mathew and Ann Braswell to William Abner and Martha Brown. They had William, Aaron, Isaac, John (MY LINE), Moses, Joseph Levi, Philip Levin, and David.

William married Patience Boykin. Had Nathan, Martha Grantham, Julius
Aaron married Christianna Hill,, and I am not even going to get started on those lines. You are talking 11 kids per.
That IS where the Locklear, Lowery, Oxendine, Chavis, Deal, Bullard, Dial, lines come into the Martin, Dixon, Strickland, and Odom lines. ALL in Robeson. Then the families spread out down South, mainly to South Carolina and Bulloch County (MY LINE)

As I wrote in the other discussion, please check out HistorySearch (free tool) to see where the issues may be arising. https://historylinktools.herokuapp.com/history
The referenced John is currently showing as your 7th great-grandfather.

A common source of issues concerning paths are unresolved parent conflicts and un-merged duplicates. HistorySearch can help 'find' them (be sure to check the options -- perhaps deselecting projects and selecting the options for showing problem profiles & conflicts)

Can you tag “your” Patience Boykin, please?
A name search here brings up only this one Patience Strickland
