Profiles Mentioned:

William Butler, widower, died in 1850, all his children, adult and minor, were disbursed to other families. William Butler's wife Andeline Mathis had a sister Grace who married Jessie Bodine. In the 1850 US census for Philadelphia, 12-year-old Jane Butler is in the household of Jesse and Grace Bodine. In 1859 Jennie Butler, the adopted daughter of Jesse Bodine married Samuel Toy. I think Jane Butler and Jennie Butler are the same person and that the Jane Butler in the 1850 census is the daughter of William and Andeline Butler..

Mt. Holly Mirror: In Philadelphia, on the 11th of December 1859, by Rev. G. D. Carrow, Mr. Samuel R. Toy, of Mount Holly, to Miss Jennie E. Butler, adopted daughter of Jesse E. Bodine, M. D., of Philadelphia.
