Daughter's profile: Rachel Davis

"Rachel Martin, youngest of the three mixed-blood children of John Martin and Susannah Emory (granddaughter of Ludovic Grant)"

Adding to the Big Tree from a DNA match.

This is who I added: Amanda Jane Little

Martin Davis was not a Cherokee man.

See the biography here for Rachel Martin:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Martin-27178

Rachel was Cherokee.

Rachel Martin was born about 1788 in the Cherokee Nation (East) the daughter of John Martin, a white man and brother of Gen. Joseph Martin, and Susannah Emory, a Cherokee woman. She was the Cherokee granddaughter of trader Ludovic Grant. [1] She married Daniel Davis, a white man on November 1, 1808. They were the parents of ten children: Martin, William, Jeter, John, Delilah, Lorenzo, Coleman, Elias, Joseph and Amanda. [2] Daniel took a reservation of land under the Treaty of 1817, but sold it back to the State of Georgia in 1823 [3]. As a white man Daniel Davis was able to buy some of the land his home was on, but much of the property was confiscated by the State of Georgia. [4] The State of Georgia continued to force Cherokee families off their land and the family moved several times, finally settling in Lumpkin County, Georgia. The family chose to remain in Georgia at Removal, [5] and only one of their children, Elias, went to Indian Territory. Rachel died September 23, 1843 at their home in Georgia. [6]

Especially relevant source for Daniel Davis:

1838 Census of Lumpkin County, GA, transcribed in Warren, Mary B. & Weeks, Eve, ed. Whites Among the Cherokees. Heritage Papers, Athens GA 1987. p. 215

Also see https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/memories/2Z83-JDD which looks well sourced.

This link https://www.familysearch.org/photos/artifacts/45488451?cid=mem_copy looks to be from Emmett Starr’s genealogy.

Amanda Jane is referenced but not profiled at Wikitree and FS, so cannot speak to her marriages.

In 1884, sisters Delilah Davis and Amanda Davis are described as “single,”, and the record is in Georgia:

How then is she a Missouri woman as on the FindAGrave?
