Alice Radcliffe - Birth inconsistency

Her father died in 1521. She was born abt 1524.
Either date could be wrong, but the daughter can't be born more than 9 months , or two years, after her father's death.

Without any context "circa 1524" could mean 1520 or even earlier.
The rule of thumb i was taught is that "circa" means +/- 5 years but really there's no definition so it means whatever the researcher wants it to mean.

Thankyou. I never knew that. I can explain a lot of inconsistencies I run into over the years.
