The connections show this John married to Joan Holland and then his paternal grandfather John Radcliffe is also shown married to a Joan Holland. Is it factual that both men had wives with identical names? I know it's possible, but I thought it worth asking about.

Thanks in advance for any clarification.

It's a question for the curator or one of the top managers to answer best. That said, once one gets into peerage records, intermarrying between families gets all kinds of crazy, including marriages of first cousins. If the data for both women differ, yes–it's quite possible. The Holland lineage surname was prominent in society of the time.
