Is there evidence that she was Jewish?

I have seen no indication of that but then again, you can never discount it either. I have Jew DNA and didn't know it for almost 52 yrs.

Ardzrouri Artsruni is your 36th great grandmother.

No!
Her ancestors are from the Kingdom of Vaspourakan, ant along 20 generations, from Armenia

You might look at her ancestry:

The image attached to her: https://www.geni.com/photo/view?album_type=photos_of_me&id=6000000000045614128&photo_id=6000000030859448531&position=0

It is a painting of Mama Ocllo, the Inca goddess of motherhood and fertility. She has got absolutely nothing to do with this individual. I have detached the image.

Tamás Flinn Caldwell-Gilbert We don't have permission to view the link anyway. Bruno Alejandro BravoMalo Saavedra I have seen Armenia, Georgia and Turkey but this is the first time I am seeing Albania and I am not surprised at all. I presumed it would be revealed eventually simply because my family moved around and also did not lol, so time passed either way and countries near motherlands are bound to hold some secret. I'm already seeing new ones with China, Armenia, Albania and more than I realized Georgia and others.

Ardzrouri Artsruni is my 25th great grandmother.

An intent to show the ancestry of Johanna Ardzrouri Artsuni
If you have time, you might open the link to a 2-pages document with a couple of images to illustrate what I got when listing Johanna's ancestors
I made a simple document in googleDOcs, MyDrive
Everyone wuth this link is able to view the document, not edit it.

I copy here the text, even if it's more readable in Rich-text format, of course

My ancestor in the XXVII-generation,
§27§1000~Joana Ardzrouri Arstsuni

Joana Ardzrouri Arstsuni, Princess of Great Armenia, b 1000~ in Kars, Vanand, Grande Armênia, d. 1083
In geni, her name is changed to Ardzrouri Artsruni (Unnamed Armenian princess)

Father: Senek'erim Ioan de Vaspourakan, roi de Vaspourakan, King of Vaspourakan
Mother: Khouschousch Bagratuni, Queen consort of Vaspourakan, b in Georgia, d in Vaspourakan Kingdom, Georgia

The statistics I get from the list of 20 generations of ancestors says:

The origin of 80 ancestors; but far from all has an explicit place of birth|death here, in geni.

Vaspourakan{x6}(Armenia&Georgia)
Armenia{x43|| On her father’s side

Iberia{x4}

Albania{x38} ||On her mother’s side
Gardman {x3}(Albania)

It does not amatter at all who are viewing her ancestory.
I suppose the basic link from geni at her page might work, but for the first 4 generations, and expanding this limit requires a more powerful CPU

https://www.geni.com/list/ancestors/6000000000045614128

My own hypothesis about her origin, she has probably zero Jewish blood.
I have myself around 5.5 je, but Azjhenasi, coming initially from Turkey around 1300 when the Huns invaded the region.

BUT those Ashkenazi are associated to the jewish cult and culture, not at all ethnically.
They converted to Judaism only as a façade as a survival strategy in front of the well-known brutality from those invaders, as it has been demonstrated across several millenium.

I guess the armenians, iberians, georgians had no jewish blood -to speak of- at the time.
Paralely, there was another gruop of turks north in Georgia, which were bandits raging a great region limiting with Ucraine (Russia) and Hungary. They were a great danger for their vicinity, and went expelled by a combined army from Hungary and Byzantium, fleeing later to Germany and England, at least, their leaders.
Sorry, I don't remember the name of this tribe just now. The only important thing to take in account is: there existed Jews that weren't Jews

Johannes II, King of Vaspurakan is my 24th great grandfather.

Haroutjoun is my 31st great grandmother.

I no longer know what I am, because I have a connection with many peoples ... My thinking is that this connection was made from the 12 tribes that spread around the world. I believe I am part of the oldest tree in the world, as most people are linked to me.

Bruno Alejandro BravoMalo Saavedra

Joaquim Telêmaco Carneiro, [de Mello] I'm pretty sure that since we're all alive, we all are part of the oldest tree in the world. I am linked to loads of people also.

👍🌹

Bruno Alejandro BravoMalo Saavedra I have no idea how much Ashkenazi or Sephardi Jew DNA I have, but it's some. I also don't know that I'm not technically Jewish by having it carried from maternal route. Too many generations have been orphaned and ran away and stolen and I'm sure more stories of reasons why it may have been lost, but I was shocked to learn I have that DNA, very much so. People asked me my entire life since at least 30-35 yrs. if I am Jewish to which I said no and asked why do people keep asking me that hahaha. I don't dare call myself Jewish because I don't know that I am or am not and people certainly don't like it when someone says they are of a religious faith when they really are not. However, even though autosomal DNA analysis and scientists in the field claim autosomal is all of your ethnic background, it really isn't. I have chunks of my chromosomes that Ancestry can't seem to tell what it is. That's frustrating, but the actual analysis is said to be rather flawed by at least Lund University in Sweden. AI would be their choice and I can't say I blame them. Also, in comparison, we can probably not actually measure how much AI knows or how accurate it is, if error is a thing (since we would most likely not be able to comprehend it all or catch it, at least) and science itself did tell us that humans only use an approximate 10% of their brain's capabilities and there exists our brain and our mind because our brain is programmed to let us do things but it does not formulate our thoughts or ideas ... or maybe it does. Regardless, my point was that I believe there is a lot more to our DNA than science is aware of or possibly able to understand fully and I'm not confident that they want to tell us, but I am confident they want to know, nonetheless. The "powers that be" want to know how to handle us because they know we are a made up of an unknown amount of unknown minds and capabilities. Junk DNA is not a thing. Science simply does not understand it, or perhaps they do to a degree or are still testing out theories. We know millions and millions of people are missing worldwide. The reality of the possibility that many have been used for human testing so they can advance their careers, increase their success and wealth overall and possibly garner favor to those willing to spend at their "store" so to speak ... buy what they're selling, figuratively. I do tend to Superman off the beaten path with topics at times, but still ..... I sense that we do have DNA from all of our ancestors. I know I have Neanderthal DNA and they have been fully integrated into homo sapiens sapiens for approximately 50,000 yrs. I am a DNA match for one specific one to which we share a common ancestor estimated to be around 368,000 yrs. old. Something in our DNA shows quite a heck of a lot more than the people we're related to and our "complete" set of ethnicities and such for half a dozen generations. There's always more. The first person I am aware of with Jewish DNA was a man, Clothar II, and he did not pass his Ashkenazi mtDNA down to me and he's been dead for a very very long time now. I may have said this before but if you see a White person living in Norway or Sweden, for example, and they have epicanthal folds on their eyes ... that is an African trait, but they may show no African DNA whatsoever. If you can see it with your own eyes is it not there? If you can not see it with your own eyes or perception of ethnic makeup, does it mean that it's not there? I am looking forward to advancements being made in the analyzation of DNA. I hope the science journal I read regarding Lund University's comments didn't fall on deaf ears with testing companies. My True Ancestry has started a trend with ancient matching and it is going to become very very popular in coming years. There is something missing connecting 5 generations to ancient matches and I am not convinced haplogroups are the tell-all. I think there is more in our DNA which could take a long time to discover. The human genome certainly did and we were in outer space and deep beneath our seas and oceans before that happened. Why I am set on this is because so many say we are essentially not even related to our own great grandparents after a point. I say that's not even remotely possible. If we're all related to each other then this applies to that logic as well. I know there are a lot more Jews than people are aware of.

Ishmael . is my 88th great grandfather.

Patriarch Isaac / יצחק אבינו is my 89th great uncle.

Carlos Magno is my 31st great grandfather.

I have been doing a bit of digging into the scholarship behind the parentage of Unnamed Armenian princess

To begin, we do not know her name. It one currently attributed to her has been made up.

Two sources, the Livro Velho das Linhagens and the Fragmento both tell the story of an unnamed Armenian princess who, during her pilgrimage to Compostela in Spain, was kidnapped and raped by Mendo Alão, senhor da Vila de Bragança

Now, as to whether this story is true, we simply do not know. It was common practice for these noble families to fabricate fantastical and exotic ancient ancestors for their families. Through this unfortunate princess, they could claim to be the descendants of kings. There is unfortunately no way to verify these legends.

As for the identity of her parents, the sources do not tell us anything. She is simply identified as an Armenian princess.

The problem is that during this period, there were multiple kingdoms in Armenia, and there is no indication as to which dynasty she is supposed to belong to. There are no references to her from Armenian sources.

The genealogist Narciso Binayan Carmona tries to identify her parentage in an article titled "Una princesa armenia en Compostela en el siglo XI: su genealogia."

He states that he believes that the story is true, but does not offer any proof for this belief or explain why he thinks so.

If we accept that she is not a legendary person, the problem is that there were 5 different kingdoms in Armenia during the 11th century.

Most of his article, which I got scanned from the NYPL, is devoted to setting up the background for Armenian history and has little to do with the princess. He concludes that in his estimation, the best candidate for her parentage comes from the kingdom of Vaspurakan, since they had contacts with Byzantium during this period. He concludes that perhaps she is a relative, maybe a daughter, of Johannes II, King of Vaspurakan the ruler of Vaspurakan during the period of her supposed pilgrimage.

But, he has no evidence for this connection, it is just a guess. It represents an interesting theory, but it is simply that, a theory. There is not enough evidence for it to be represented as fact on the Geni tree and I suggest that the connection between the princess and Johannes II, King of Vaspurakan be removed. The connection is not based on sources. His argument is interesting, but it certainly does not rule out any of the other Armenian kingdoms, let alone come close to proving that she existed in the first place. We could include a discussion in their about sections for the theory though.

Thanks Tamás Flinn Caldwell-Gilbert

Wouldn't it be interesting on the MP profile to disconnect from parents?

As I mentioned earlier, a new profile was created including some ancestors

Princesa Ardzrouri da Arménia

I isolated the duplicate profile and its surrounding profiles and sent it off for deletion. There is no reason to merge them in as these duplicate medieval trees contribute nothing new to Geni except a mess and lots of work to clean up.

Private User You are a long-time Geni user, so please stop creating duplicate Medieval trees. Work with the existing profiles on Geni and improve them if you have something to add to the tree.

Excellent providence!

I removed the connection between Johannes II, King of Vaspurakan and Unnamed Armenian princess . I added some information to her curator note and to her about section and locked relationships.

Is there somewhere where I can learn how to use this site please? Your knowledge of knowing who is your great great ….. grandparent is amazing! I literally don’t know what I am doing on here lol
