FTDNA's preliminary analysis shows my haplogroup to be R-Z17581. They haven't yet reported their manual analysis.
My kit # is 995924.
For what it's worth, I've got an FTDNA group administrator telling me I'm "%100" descended from Alexander "the Wolf of Badenoch." And then I've got the following difficult to reconcile information:
1. I have a cousin (haplogroup R-FT74278, FTDNA kit #14486) with whom I share a 4th Great Grandfather -- Thomas Hamilton Stewart (NC/TN)) whose B Y-700 results apparently have placed him as a descendant of the Sheriffs of Bute.
2. Another "possible" cousin (R-FTC26013, FTDNA kit #971822) with whom I "may" share a 6th Great Grandfather -- Lazarus, the patriarch of the Tribe of Lazarus in Lancaster County, PA) has Big Y-700 results that also suggest to some he descends from the Sheriffs of Bute. Note this curiosity however: his genealogical research and mine disagree on our apparent shared link to the Lazarus line and he and my cousin above seem to share a closer DNA match than he and I.
3. I just learned of another distant cousin (R-FT26747, FTDNA kit #635158) who reports tracing his line back to John Stewart of Bonkyll through my very own Tribe of Lazarus (his ancestor was one of Lazarus' half-brothers, Samuel Stewart).
4. While another Stewart (R-FT333465, FTDNA kit B3566235) reports tracing his line back to Alexander "the Wolf of Badenoch" Stewart, gets there through a tantalizingly close connection to me via a John Stewart in North Carolina (who may or may not be one of the several Tribe of Lazarus John Stewarts in Rowan County NC who ARE in my line).
5. And finally, yet another Stewart (haplogroup R-L21) -- with DNA connecting him to that distant cousin (#3 above) -- who traces his line back to the Duke of Albany.
