I've tried to find documentation proving Margaret's parents and haven't found anything. The info usually used to give her the maiden name Knox and assign Knox parents to her is that there was a Knox family on the same ship they immigrated on. That seems very speculative to me.
I can't fit Margaret in anywhere with the two known wives of Rev. William Knox III and there is no daughter named Margaret listed among any of the children from either marriage, using this info from the Geni Profile for her supposed father:
Reverend William Knox, III, of Dublin
"In the work entitled The Taverns and Turnpikes of Blandford, by Rev Summer Wood, 1908 we are told that William Knox Sr came to the area from Glasgow, Scotland area. (Later sources have him as from Ireland) We know that he had at least 2 wives, the first wife is the mother of Adam Knox, John Knox, Captain William Knox and Griswold. His second wife Elizabeth is named in his will and she is the mother of Elizabeth. His name in the Blandford records is spelled both as Knox and as Knock. His marriage record to Elizabeth is spelled Knox but the registry of the birth of his daughter his name is spelled Knock. This is important because there is a marriage record that predates teh birth of Adam Knox where William Knock marries Mary Davis in 1717 which correlates to the births of Adam Knox 1718, John Knox, 1719, William Knox 1721 and Griswold 1723. His elder daughter Agnes probably fits in within this group, as one can assume by the dates, that the first wife died in child birth with Griswold."
I don't know if I actually have Knox ancestry or not. If anyone has additional information to help document that Margaret was actually a Knox by birth, please contact me or post the info. I don't want her to be a brick wall, but unless there is some documentation I've missed, she seems to be.
Aside from that, Geni is the only place I've seen her with the middle name Alice. Don't know what the documentation is for that. ?
