Cynthia Curtis, A183502, US7875087, I will look this evening, I promise. Still teaching. I found reference to a text that mentions three Spivey families coming into the Virginia/NC area and probably related, but I cannot find the book. Will look more.

This may have some leads and I was looking at it last night https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Spivey-274

Also - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Thomas_Spivey_and_Mary_Hill%2C_...

The above last link does have some info on a Matthew Spivey. Some sources listed. Needs more as always, but it is a start. Will try to do more tonight. On a break a minute here.

Did she marry Maj. John Nichols as well as Capt. Matthew Spivey, Sr.
?
Will keep looking for the book

Cynthia Curtis, A183502, US7875087, I am so sorry. I got caught up with this blasted work project. One day it will be over. I did look back for the book and will need to keep looking. :-(. We will get this. I am wondering if we need to work from bottom to top, like way to the bottom. Several generations below to check up ????

:)

Here may be something

https://descendantsofthegreatdismal.com/2017/09/23/the-christianize...

Scroll down to see where Judith Bowers married Matthew Spivey, then John Nichols. Interesting story if straight. Chart is helpful.

They would go in the Great Dismal Swamp project, for sure.

Adding this to profiles

John Nichols, who was often referred to as Major—an indication that he was a member of a standing militia in the area—married Judith Bowers Spivey (the widow of Matthew Spivey) later in life and it is possible that he had a previous marriage (through which he fathered Sarah Nichols). Prior to marrying Judith, John also appears to have fathered two illegitimate children, John and Sarah, by his slave Jean Lovina. These details can only be inferred (not verified) through the contents of his will (which proved 17 May 1697).

Here is your Maj. John Nichols Looks like Judith needs to connect to him also. :-)

I am finding better luck on Safari than Google right now. There is a google book with the will of one of Spiveys, that I am trying to access.

So great! I had pm’d managers about Spivey’s locked death date and widow’s marriage to Nichols after but had zero idea they would fall into place like this… I am showing as tenth great granddaughter of both men… and it brings in a slave relationship which is so very important
I was literally just thinking about looking via different search engines.
I have logged off the desktop computer for the day but am cheering you both on. What excellent work being done today on these Colonial era ancestors.
Thank you thank you. I am so excited

Yes, I was about to to look for his other self. Also connected Sarah Spivey - she had been attached to a Boston MA family.

This chart is really helpful, I’m attaching to everyone mentioned.

And the Bass connection… this is unbelievably a breakthrough
Thank you so much for not letting them sit.
I won’t step on any toes but will add what else I find if I am so fortunate but I don’t want to get in the way

United Tamer Bass with her other self. She was a legatee of grandmother Judith Nichols

Thanks Erica Howton and Cynthia Curtis, A183502, US7875087. I'd like to work more on these lines when this year of the "Big Report" is up.
