There was a "John Mann" (no middle name), mayor of Poole in the years 1539, 1549, 1556, and 1558.

However, IF he had a daughter "Agnes Mann" who married a "Richard Betts" -- she would not be his wife nor would Betts be his son.

Edward Man (1549 - 1622) of Poole, Dorset (mayor of Poole 1589-90 and various other miscellaneous offices)

b. c.1549,1 5th s. of John Man (d.1577/8), merchant, of Poole, being 2nd s. with his 2nd w. Amy, da. of one Harvey of Tarrant Launceston, Dorset, wid. of John Ryves of Damory Court, Blandford, Dorset.

m. (1) 8 Feb. 1576, Temperance, da. of John Hassard, sen., merchant, of Lyme Regis, Dorset, 4s. (1 d.v.p.) 2da.;

m. (2) Eleanor, sis. of Lewis Pope of Taunton, Som., s.p.d. 22 Dec. 1622.

So John Mann, four times mayor of Poole and wealthiest man in town, had a son, Edward Mann with second wife, Mrs. Amy Ryves (widow of John Ryves of Damory Court).

The son, Edward, had six children (four sons, two daughters) with his FIRST wife, Temperance Hassard -- not with second wife, Eleanor Pope.
