For many years my go to reference has been the searchable database of Robert Billard on the Ancestral Curios server.

Today I find the several links that i use to reach the site all take me to... well nothing but some weird dead site.

Does anyone have any explanation, or even better a link to the new home of the database?

It looks to me like the website is blank, not dead. I wonder if some mishap wiped out the website's content.

I did a brief Internet search and turned up this: https://homepages.rootsweb.com/~rbillard/

I get a blank web page with oriental symbols in the web address. The browser tells me that this is not a secure site.

Thanks John, i think that was the previous iteration but better than nothing.

James, i see those symbols also.

sad to hear this...
ty for the heads-up

The real loss is the search tool that was on the most recent site.
I downloaded the software from rootsweb and the data files too but i think that PC is dead in a corner somewhere.

Absolutely! No search engine is a huge loss... so goes the internet...

The early records of the reformed church of Albany by Billard are available on Archive.org. This site may have more translations and transcriptions by Billard.

Alex: another option is to buy the dtSearch app. It allows you to find text within files with common extensions like .pdf, .docx, .txt, etc. There is a boolean function. It works well as long as the files are searchable. If it's an OCR'ed PDF, the quality of the search results depends on the quality of the OCR.
