I'm a Finch descendant and tracing a DNA match's line from Ancestry. It's going back to these folks and I ran into this pile-up of parents. The info on Ancestry has the parents of this John as either:

Father
James Finch (1725–1768)

Mother
Abigail Seeley (1730–1761)

or

Father
Thomas Finch (1710–1785)

Mother
Susannah Garrett (1747–)

None of the others connected here on Geni are showing in the trees or Hints I'm getting on Ancestry.

I haven't yet discovered how this line goes back to my own direct FInch line, so I can't vouch for any of the suggested connections. I just know that having so many conflicting parents connected here on Geni only makes it more challenging rather than being helpful, because clearly some of the pathways have to be incorrect.

I see that the Finch Y-DNA is reportedly from the line of Thomas FInch, but I know from experience that's only as correct as what the person who got Y-DNA tested lists their earliest ancestor to be and whether they have that correct.

This other link in John's profile notes starts with him as Generation 1, meaning his parents are indicated to be unknown, which all the conflicting info seems to indicate to be the case:

This other link in his profile actually lists his parents as unknown:

To keep the pathways on Geni from being invalid, I personally think it's always best not to connect unproven parentage to profiles. They can always be added if / when solid proof is found. Otherwise, it's pointless and often totally misleading to make speculative connections.

All that said, I'm hoping the profile managers will sort the parental connections and only leave one set of parents who can be documented as accurate or else remove all the speculative connections until such time as further documentation may come to light.

Thanks in advance for any assistance with the parental 'pile-up' on this profile.
