Robert Wilson was baptized as an "adult" at St. George's Episcopal Church in Hempstead on 11 Dec 1748 [NYG&B Record), April 1879: Volume 10, issue 2, Page 91].
In the 18th century colonies, a person was an "adult" when they turned 21 years old according to English Common Law of the time [https://genfiles.com/articles/legal-age/]. That was the age of "majority."
Prior to 21 years old, a person was considered at the age of minority, or a child basically. They could legally do several things before reaching 21 years old, but they were not considered an adult until they reached 21 years old.
Since Robert was baptized as an "adult" (no parents were listed for him) on 11 Dec 1748, he would have been born no later than about 1727 (assuming he baptized at 21 and not any older).
