Our family tree has gown to close to 1000 with 429 blood relatives...yes, large families on all sides. The only dead end we have (and my Dad could not remember before he passed away) was his dad, my grandfather's father & his family.
So his grandmother on his Dad's side Domenica Monetta (after she came to America with her kids & remarried) was Domenica Palmeri (nee Fanale). She had 2 girls Rosalia & Anna & my grandfather Albert. Sometime between when Albert was born (1895) and her immigration to America as a widow with 2 of her 3 children (1902)(3rd child came later to America with an aunt) , my Grandfather's father (Albert... also we believe based on his sister's US Marriage licenses) died. Was in during the Sicilian wars? I have found information on when Domenica came to this country & stayed with a brother who was already here & additional family later followed. And we have many relatives & connections from my Grandmothers side from Naples...
The Fanale family shows as coming from Villabate, Sicily & my grandfathers military papers say he was from Palermo... I cannot find any birth records for his dad, Albert Palmeri (b circa 1870's) or his marriage to Domenica Fanale (before 1891) or his death (1895-1902). Without them...I cannot race back any further than to my grandfather Albert. Any help from anyone in Sicily?
