Pierre Aleston La Foucate (Fugate): B: 1610 apx, Yarmouth, Norfolk, England D: 1651 Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. M: 1628 Nancy Jane Adams B: 1610 Dunster, Somerset, England D: England. The family escape from France to England, and then later to the New Americas. The La Foucate family were French Huguenots, or French Protestants, members of the Calvinist Church, whose liberty of worship at first denied by Edict of Nantes (1598) and again withdrawn, when the edict was provoked (1685) by King Louis XIV. They worshipped by night, so not to be found out, to escape persecution, many French Huguenots then emigrated to England and stayed there, some others left England for the US. The Fugate line emigrated to England and stayed there, some others later left England for America. For safety from France, they change the name to Fugate.

(Emaline married James Fuckett as Aveline Lambe in St. Dunstan’s parish, Stepney, on 8 June, 1651, James Fuckett of Yarmouth, Isle of Wighte & Avesline Lambe of Wapping. She did have a son, James Fuckett Jr. After his death, in 1656, Eme Fuckett of Greenbanks married at the age of 28 (widowed) Nicholas Johnson of Greenbanks, mariner aged 26 years on December 29 1656 in Stepney.
