The records of birth of Salomon Mautner fall into two groups: (1) those of Leopold (1787), Samuel (1789), Simon (1791), Johanna (1793), and Markus (1795) identify their mother as Frumet, born Pereles; (2) those of Ignatz (1797), Regina (1800), and Klaudine (1804) identify their mother as Franziska or Anna, born Herschler or Gerschler. Also, there is a record of the death of "Franziska, Eheweib des Salomon Mautner" in Milevsko in 1825. On this evidence, it seems clear that Salomon had two wives: first Frumet, then Franziska.
But there is a complicating consideration: a grave in Milevsko is said to hold the remains of Frumet Mautner, wife of Zalman, with date of death 7 Sh'vat 5584 (7 Jan 1824). This seems to indicate that Frumet and Franziska were the same person; but the date disagrees with the recorded date of death of Franziska by more than a year; and changing the Hebrew year to 5585 yields a CE date of 26 Jan 1825, which still disagrees with Franziska's date of death by more than two weeks. Even if these discrepancies can be explained away, there remains the disagreement between the birth surname attributed to Frumet (Pereles) and that attributed to Franziska (Herschler).
While there is certainly reason to believe that Frumet and Franziska were one and the same person, the discrepancies between their associated records stand in the way of identifying them. The two profiles should therefore remain separate as long as no stronger evidence of their identity emerges.
