You are correct that the GEDCOM had many errors.

John Simpson that died in 8-16-1804 in Horsham Township, PA married a Hannah Roberts on Nov 25, 1762.

John Simpson that died 11-28-1786 in Halifax, VA married a Hannah

I think there is still some peanut butter in the chocolate, so tpo speak!
The John who is grandfather to the President US Grant is from Pennsylvania and the Hannah wives are still muddled

is
John Simpson Sr is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A104165.

I will step off now while you continue to work on them, Jim Wile! Thank you

John (NMI) Simpson

John David Simpson, HORSHAM, PA

There is also a John Simpson (Mar 2, 1733) from Paxtang, Lancaster Counyu that moved to Sunbury, Northumberland Xounty. His birth information was on the Horsham John.

For your future work - I suggest that you do not cut the incorrect children. Create a 2nd wife for the "father" and move them to her, That keeps them together.

Jim Wile good suggestion!

So the list of children from the About... are they correct? Other than the Nancy Moore vs Rosencrantz?:
Not the same as John Simpson, Ill or John David Simpson, HORSHAM, PA
