Per research, note on WikiTree reads “There is no documentation which describes this man, including who his parents might have been, where he came from, or when he lived and died. Emmet Starr does not list the names of any husbands for Nancy Downing. James HIcks and John Strange call him "Alexander" McSwain without documentation. [1] His existence is supported by two daughters of Nancy , named Margaret and Elizabeth McSwain. [2] Margaret and Elizabeth were born about 1776-1780, so McSwain must have been in the Cherokee Nation during those years.”
