William Stevens was not the biological father of Bertha Ella Stevens; he married Bertha's mother, Alma Widger, when Bertha was about 5 years old. DNA results indicate that her father was a Franklin, most likely Devar Franklin, who was about the same age as Alma and lived in close proximity to her.
