Are Ottar in Egilsson and Ohthere of Hålogaland possibly representing the same legendary person?

https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ottar_fra_H%C3%A5logaland - Ottar from Hålogaland known only from an account of his travels, referred to here as Ohthere , which he gave to the Anglo-Saxon king Alfred of Wessex (871–899) sometime around 890.

https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ottar_Vendelkr%C3%A5ka - Historians have speculated that Ottar is identical to an Ohthere mentioned in the Beowulf poem , dated to sometime in the period AD 700 to AD 1000.

I'm not engaging with that kind of rudeness. Behave in a civilsed manner or don't comment, but stop the bullying - it's ugly, and completely unacceptable behaviour in other cultures.

The legendary Ohthere is supposed to irepresent a historical figure, and the dates coincide, so it's worth engaging with whether the textual references in legends aren't cross polinating.

Why do you even think that? The king Alfred of Wessex (871–899) mentioned Ottar fra Hålogaland, would make it a contemporary source, thus not a legendary person, but a real one,
Ottar Vendelkråka lived 300 years before him, do not merge them.

The only reason I'm making sure it's discussed by deliberately raising it in a public Discussion is because the two trees had profiles that were in common, which is something that happens often in these areas, and disentangling them when the facts are sparse and the saga stories many and often contradictory, takes time.
Legends carry over generations in oral tradition and also cross pollinate, and Vendelkraka as a fairy tale king wouldn't have "lived" at all.

I have no investment in merging them, and less in being insulted by people like you.

No!

Ottar "Vendilkraka" Egilsson King in Egilsson, King of Uppsala is your 42nd great grandfather.
