This is long so please bear with me. There is much to explain. I will capitalize the main focus of discusion.
This is a follow up email I sent the managers of the profiles I will mention.
This is in regard to finding a solution into the WIVES of John Lance. Nothing else.
I sent a joint email to the mangers of 2 of the 4 wives listed for John Lance.
I informed the managers he only had TWO WIVES. I added those two particular wives and sources for them as well as adding those same sources on the profile of John Lance.
In regards to finding a solution I requested anyone who could provide the sources of the 2 wives that are both unsourced. The main reason I started pursuing this being that some of his children were listed between all 3 Marys some having multiple mothers. The second reason to clear up the tree to eliminate any confusion and profiles being assigned incorrectly and prevent further confusion.
I also explained that based on the sources I provided Margaret Mary Avenshire was the mother of ALL of the children.
No discussion or new sources were added to the profiles of the unsourced wives.
What did happen was most of the children were added on to Mary Wilhelmina's profile and John Lance II, who had been on the profile of all 3 Marys previously, was now added to Mary Avenshire alone. With no explanation nor sources provided as to why.
What also happened was added onto the bio of the profile of John Lance. This was the image of a newspaper article. I had added the link to that very same newspaper article directly below that image previously. This newspaper article does not mention ANY of his WIVES only each child and the spouse.
All the vital info except the place of birth of 2 of the Mary profiles is identical. This being Mary Wilhelmina Murray and Margaret Mary Avenshire. They are identified in their profiles as being buried in the exact same Lance Cemetery. The only wife Find A Grave linked to the memorial of John Lance being to that of Mary Avenshire which is the only profile a Find A Grave source is attached to.
You will find Mary Avenshire as listed as the mother of all of his known children as well. Mary Avenshire was married previously to a Matthias Avenshire so Avenshire is not her surname. I believe Mary Wilhelmina Murray and Mary Avenshire may be the same Mary. I cannot find Mary Avenshire's surname mentioned only that of his first wife Catherine who was a Culp like his mother.
I discussed this with a curator and who couldn't find the answer. They suggested I put this up for discussion.
Could whoever divided the children between the 2 mothers after my initial email to all of the profiles please explain what drew them to this conclusion and provide sources? All Marys died on or near the very same year so all of these separate profiles cannot be correct as stands even if he had married them all.
If Mary Wilhelmina isn't Mary Avenshire then all of the children attached to Wilhelmina should be attached to Mary Avenshires profile.
If a solution can be found to all of this I suggest the profiles be locked and notes be added to prevent this from happening again.
