Mordechai Chernyak - Mordechai Chernyak's and Yehuda Leib (Yuda-Leyba) Chernick

I may recall this issue relating to my late great great grandfather Dr. Yehudah LIeb Chernick. In about 1998's My late dad wrote note to me because I am Deaf myself and be able to communicate with my late dad through writing note. He told me about my paternal great grandma Sara Chernick Polin's father named Dr. Yehudah Lieb Chernick.

I had discovered Dr. Yehudah Lieb Chernick's marriage license in Russia, he had two wives. According to the Marriage License saying he was widow and married to his second widow wife. That is how it led me to realize that your great grandma's family move to England Therefore my great grandpa Sholom Polin and Sara Chernick Polin with my grandpa and great uncle/aunt moved to Chicago from Motol, Belarus in 1914's

So I can see that you and I are still relating to Dr. Yehudah Lieb Chernick.

I know we have discussed this some time ago. Yehuda-Leib's son, Zelig Chernick, did come to England and settled in Manchester in the second half of the 19th century. The family were well known in Manchester having established a dairy. As far as I am aware Zelig's family were always known a Chernick, never Chernyak/Cherniak. Gravestones show that they were not Levi'im. This is not my family.

Two of my great-grandfather Mordechai Chernyak's sons, Moshko/Morris and Isak and their families came to Manchester in 1906 from Ukraine. Their surname was spelt Czerniak (Polish transliterated version) on their travel documents. They were from Ukraine not Belarus. Isak returned to Ukraine. Only Morris stayed in Manchester and changed the spelling of his name to Chernick. Thus there were two unrelated Chernick families in Manchester. Younger members of both families were told they were unrelated and I have not seen any credible documentation that proves otherwise. Morris's family are all Levi'im.
All Mordechai's descendants except for Morris's branch continued to be known by the family name Chernyak/Cherniak to this day.

Thank you for sharing with me! BTW my 1st once remove cousin told me that our cousins moved to Argentina from Russia. So I contacted cousin in Argentina and learned that his grandpa and uncle surname changed to Cherniak and Czerniuk because at different time they shipped to Argentina. At the office they mistyped it.

His name is Daniel Cherniak, He can speak in English, Spanish and Hebrew. His family speaks in Spanish mostly. I have his phone number and text him through WhatsApp. He sent me picture of his grandpa, Moshe Cherniak and uncle Leizer Czerniuk.

Also, my 1st cousin once remove late Rabbi Milton Polin and his wife did visit Daniel Cherniak's relatives in Argentina several years ago. Even Daniel did mention to me about Rabbi Polin's visiting him and Cherniak family there.
