Hi all,

I am a direct descendant of Isaac Isaacs. We know from scribe records in the UK, that his Hebrew name was recorded as Isaac Ibshitz. We understand that Ibshitz can be variously spelled depending upon how scribes recorded at the time. We know he was in Ipswich, London & Portsmouth in the UK between 1735 & 1808, but believe he originated from Europe, possibly entering the UK via Amsterdam. Isaac had a son my 5 x GGF who we know everything about!

My Y-DNA places our origins around Moldova, Poland & Germany and around that region. We strongly feel that Ibshitz is Eibenschutz. There are some accounts of Isaac in a newspaper and book. He was described as being either a Rabbi or a scholarly man.

We know this is a real ‘needle in a haystack’ type of investigation. More of a quest to find our Isaac. It is said that he died in London but we can find no headstone.

This message is by way of a hello and introduction and to let people know why I have joined the group. So, if anyone knows of a missing Isaac from around that time, that would be great haha!

We look forward to researching with you all.

Phil Murray (Isaacs)

Apologies, we believe that Isaac was born between 1700-1715
