There are no primary sources here for the birth in Wurttemberg, Germany claimed for Charles Frederick Schrafft in about 1845. One New Zealand secondary source suggests that he was born in Stuttgart about 1846. Out of curiosity, I searched his name on Ancestry.com. First, his name. Charles Frederick is obviously an Anglicized version of his birth name. In Germany, Charles would normally be Carl, and Frederick would normally be Friedrich. So his German birth name, translated literally, would be Carl Friedrich Schrafft, but of course there might be variations.

The closest hit I found in my Ancestry search was for Johan Friedrich Carl Schraft, born November 14, 1844 and baptized December 5, 1844 in the Stuttgart Lutheran Church. He was the son of Johan Jakob Schraft and Wilhelmine Friedrike Schraft, strangers to this family tree. See https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/11515959:61229

I would be interested in any birth records othes might find.

Hmmm, this is much more helpful. I am willing to consider this whakapapa as a look at the tree for Wilhelmine Friederike Schraft (nee Hafner) (1805–1880) shows a daughter with the name Anna Christina Elisabeth Schraft (1845-1941) and Charles had a daughter with the name Christina Ann Seward (Schrafft) so it could be the connection we've been looking for. Let's build Wilhelmine's family tree and see if any other information comes to light as we go Wilhelmine Friederike Schraft
