FOURTH GENERATION
“William Cloud married a French girl (possibly Ruth Buckingham) and had three children:”
These children are not listed in the Will of [[William Cloud, of New Castle William Cloud, of New Castle] William Cloud]!
1. John Cloud, 1740-1840 (our subject).
2. William Cloud, born September 17, 1750; married Adeline Martin, Mary Morgan, and Nancy Vaughn; lived in Georgia during the Revolutionary War; went to North Carolina after 1776 and later visited his brother John in Louisiana; is said to have died at the age of 114.
3. Noah Cloud, born 1752 in North Carolina or Virginia; fought in the Revolutionary War and received a pension on November 4, 1832 (Claim W-9369, V.A. Bureau, Washington, D.C.). Noah died August 15, 1838. His wife, Unity, born CA 1755, whom he married several years before the close of the war was allowed a pension as a widow of a Revolutionary soldier. At the time of her application, executed October 18, 1838, she was 83 years old, residing in Edgefield, South Carolina.

John and William Cloud III's connection to William Cloud of Brandywine Hundred
A crucial point which supports the view that William Cloud III LVDT-WY7is descended from William of Brandywine Hundred L69S-7LR: It is accepted that William Cloud III went to Natchitoches, LA sometime around 1835-36, where John Cloud LJPN-94N, perhaps his brother, had land. Joining them was young Daniel William Cloud Jr LKN4-8C2 and Davy Crockett, among other members of the Tennessee Vols. They had stopped off in LA, where they went 'coon hunting, hence the famous coonskin caps, before going off to meet their demise at the Alamo. Now why is this significant? It is significant because Daniel William Cloud is descended from William Cloud of Brandywine Hundred L69S-7LR. That lineage appears uncontested by record. This therefore suggests very highly that William Cloud III was similarly descended.
The question then remains just how is William Cloud III LVDT-WY7 related to William of Brandywine Hundred?
One theory has it that William Cloud III is the son of William Cloud of SC LTFL-3GM, himself the son of William of Brandywine Hundred.
Another theory has it that William Cloud III is the son of Joseph Cloud II L129-D79 and Nancy Moore L1VX-B2V, with that Joseph Cloud being himself the son of Joseph Cloud I L5FW-PRD and Ruth Jervis G46V-JJZ.
It may also be that a third possibility exists. But, in my view, the evidence, while inconclusive, leans toward the first theory as the most likely, notwithstanding that the will of William Cloud of SC LTFL-3GM John and William Cloud III's connection to William Cloud of Brandywine Hundred

For this reason, any inputs on these respective persons pages should err on the side of inclusion rather than exclusion, at least until such time as more satisfying evidence may arise. Withal, however, the issue of whether this William Cloud LVDT-WY7 is descended from William Cloud of Brandywine Hundred L69S-7LR should be laid to rest. The presence of Daniel William Cloud Jr LKN4-8C2 at John Cloud's land in Natchitoches, LA, from whence Daniel Cloud LJPN-94N penned his famous letter to his brother, settles the matter.
Placed as son of Jeremiah R. S. Cloud based on being a brother of Noah Cloud who married Eunola "Unity" Cloud
