I am questioning that Carteret County, North Carolina is the place of birth and death of John and Amelia Day. My research indicates that John and Amelia Day and John's second wife Barbara (Barbary) Day lived their lives in Person/Caswell counties, North Carolina.
Are there official documents such as census records, land grant(s), court proceedings, i.e., not family trees provided by family researchers, that indicated that John and Amelia were from Carteret County?
I realize on Cedar Island, Carteret County is a memorial stone erected by family members in 1999 in memory of John and Amelia Day. Does this memorial stone reflect the actual burial place of John and Amelia or is it only a memorial stone to common ancestors of the Day family?
