Not being Australian, I have just looked up where North Shields is, it is on the Eyre Peninsula, South Australia, which is where the Dorwood family settled.
Here is the following information about John "Stewart" Browne, taken from family research done by a cousin, this can be backed up by records. I do have records of births taken from the Internet, early South Australian births.
John "Stewart" Browne was born at Tallantire Hall, Bridekirk, Cumberland, England, 19/10/1814, the second son of William Browne of Tallantire Hall and Catherine Stewart.
He emigrated to South Australia in 18422.
In 1850 he married Rebekah (Rebecca) Rayner b. 14/1/1830 d. 19/10/1853. They were married at Port Lincoln, SA 3/4/1850.
Rebekah is buried in The Pioneer Cemetery, Port Lincoln, as is Stewart Browne (d. 1888, he was a Stipendiary Magistrate). This is well documented.
They had the following children:
Katherine (Katie) Stewart Browne b.5/2/1852

I have no idea if this book is readily available. I was very fortunate to be given a copy by a great grandson of Ken Browne and Maggie Dorwood.
