Can someone help actually find his Sioux line? He said it was through one of his father's grandparents, it must be either the mother or father of Francis "Fannie" (Tackett) Barker.
He's listed on the 1930 Rosebud census as enrolled: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Robert_(Bob)_Barker_-_South...

Getting closer!
"... Mr. Barker was married at Fort Randall on October 9, 1871, to Miss Fannie Tackett, who was born at Fort Laramie, and is a daughter of George L. Tackett, a native of Kentucky, of French descent, while her mother was of French and Indian blood. ..."
So Fannie was born in Wyoming -- not South Dakota, not Iowa. And her mother was actually of mixed ancestry, not exclusively of Sioux ancestry, which might open up more avenues for connections...if we can ever figure out who her mother actually was. :)
I submit her mother was Ellen (probably) Dorian, and that she was the full sister of “Charles Tackett or Tackett (Jan. 18, 1853 - July 2, 1914). He was born on Horse Creek in Wyoming to George L. and Ellen Tackett. …”

By Susan Bordeaux Bettelyoun, Josephine Waggoner.
Susan Bordeaux Bettelyoun unfortunately does not mention her former sister in law, but the dates and location make it hard to argue against Ellen as their mother. There were 1/2 siblings also.
I wonder if Bob Barker knew about his cousin in Hollywood?
Luther Standing Bear is Bob Barker's first cousin once removed's father.

I've dug a little further into the records for Francis "Fannie" (Tackett) Barker. The 1860 census shows her as the daughter of George L. Tackett and lists her "color" as "HB" (used by census takers to mean "Half Breed"). Additionally, the 1885 Nebraska state census (when she was married to Barker) describes her as "1/2 breed", accompanied (I think) by the note "Ind." (Indian). This is reasonably strong evidence that Francis' mother was Native American. However, the Mary listed as George's wife in both the 1860 and 1870 Census almost certainly was not Francis' mother (Mary was too young, she is listed as "White", and no child in the household other than Francis is categorized as a "half breed").
I think this is one of those cases where I need to write out all the available information and sift through it to try to establish who was who, who was married to who, etc. I suspect certain of the secondary sources have mixed things up a bit, adding to the confusion. Then again, I don't necessarily trust what might be listed even in the primary records.
WikiTree has a pretty good summary of the information that is available for Charles E. Tackett, who is thought to perhaps be the son of George L. Tackett and Ellen Dorion.https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Tackett-559
