The "FORM OF INFORMATION OF A DEATH: ORD. No 8 OF 1902" provides a precise age at death on 2 June 1918 of seventy years six months + nineteen days. This implies the DOB was 14 Nov 1847 (if you include the day of death in his age). This corresponds to the birthdate in the baptismal record for Zacharias Johannes Prinsloo son of Hendrik Petrus Prinsloo and Christina Petronella de Beer. I concluded that the name in the birth record is in error as the name of his father and the birthday corroborates it, and I learned over the years that such errors are not uncommon.

So what do you believe is the correct name Jan Grobbelaar ?

I have since found a reference to Z.J.J. Prinsloo so I now believe his names were actually Zacharias Johannes Jacobus Prinsloo (or Z. Jacobus Johannes Prinsloo)

"In die Enkeldoorn-distrik, waar daar reeds Gereformeerde gesinne, te wete Prinsloo, Olivier, De Klerk, De Beer, Kriek, Kruger en Oberholster voorgekom het, is ouderling Z.J.J. Prinsloo en br. T.C. de Klerk as eerste diaken van die Gereformeerde-gemeente van Enkeldoorn bevestig". The source is stated as "Gedenkalbum van die Gereformeerde Kerk in Suid-Rhodesië na vyftig jaar, 1914 – 1964, p. 27". Hopefully, if and when I find this source it may be confirmed one way or another...
