Pagan (Pain) Peverell, Lord of Whittington - Birth date of Pagan Peverell

Since his daughter Isabel was born about 1186, shouldn't Pagan's birth be closer to 1160 instead of 1060 that is given? I checked her husband and children, so that her date seems reasonable, but Pagan's date does not. Are there generations between Isabel and Pagan or between Pagan and his listed ancestors? Help?

Isabel fits well chronologically with the husband shown here in Geni. She does not match well as a daughter of either of the Payn Peverell(s) that Wolcott shows in his work on this family: http://www.ancientwalesstudies.org/id50.html. I have avoided structuring the Geni tree to folow that work as I am not very strong on the Norman side of things. Private User what is your take on this?

Well, Stirnet (paywall, sorry) gives this Payn Peverel a lot of children but none of them are Isabel.

Indeed, there is no Isabel Peverel in their database. They are using (mostly) “The History and Antiquities of the County of Northampton,” George Baker, 1830

Wikitree also has Payn, also called a Robert, and gives lots of discussion of issues and sourced. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Peverel-34 — and Isabel isn’t there, either.

Jordan de la Warre appears in neither site.

Seems reasonable to me to detach Isabel from her parents.

Note that the profile “Isabel Peverell” started geni life as “Emma (?).”

Emma (?)

Emma (?) married Jordan la Warre, Lord of Bristolton, son of John la Warre, Lord of Bristolton.

Family
Jordan la Warre, Lord of Bristolton d. 1231

Child
John la Warre, Sheriff of Herefordshire+ d. c 1277

https://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cousin/html/p390.htm#i19675 Cites Peter Townend, B:P, 103rd, pg. 688.

(That is, Burke’s Peerage, 103rd Edition (1963)

I suggest reverting to that name as well as disconnecting from parents.

Correction

Emma Started life as Issbel de Peverell but was later sourced as Emma unknown.

So the first identification is from a Gedcom upload / computer completed merge.

Since I was here, I went ahead with the disconnect.

Emma, parents unknown, was not the the daughter of Pagan (Pain) Peverell, Lord of Whittington and not called Isabel Peverell. She married 2nd Lord de la Warre Jordan de la Warre

Thank you all for your help. I have also disconnected Emma/Isabel from Pagan. Is she still a Peverel? I appreciate also the conversation. Thanks so much.

She’s called Emma (unknown) so no, not known to have been a Peverell.

Got it. Thanks.
