The daughter of John Davis and Maria his wife, Elizabeth Davis’s birth was recorded at the Great Synagogue in London in the month of June 1802, recording that she was born at Fishmonger Alley, Borough, Southwark.

Her Hebrew name was Peska bat Jacob Irishman. her mother was Brynah bat isaac Joel, proving that Maria, the wife of John Davis, was a Miss Joel.
Although there can be no certainty, she may have arrived with her mother at Sydney Harbour aboard the “Sarah Scott” on 14 December 1844, having embarked at Portsmouth on 9 August 1844. The passenger manifest states only Mrs Davis and Miß Davis, so there is no certainty. What is certain, is that she did not arrive in 1825.
Elizabeth died unmarried on 30 January 1866 at 1, Wynyard Square in Sydney.
In 1839, her aunt Mary Davis nee Davis included Elizabeth in her Will, bequeathing to her and her sister Caroline Moulds the wife of Benjamin Moulds the sum of 50 pounds each.
They were daughters of Mary's brother John Davis of Mason's Buildings, Newington Causeway, Newington, and "his present wife Maria" who we can see from Elizabeth's birth record was Maria, the daughter of isaac Joel.
