Gen. William Russell was born March 06, 1735 to a mother who was born **1692** and a father born ca. 1678.

His mother was 43 years old at his time of birth. His father was about age 57. They married in 1710.

He has siblings born in 1695, 1708, 1710, 1716, 1720, ca.1721, 1726, Sept. 19 1726, 1728, ca.1732, 1737, ???, ca.1735, and a brother also named "William" born February 08, 1715 (d. 1777)

His mother would have been too young for the first one or two. 1710 is pushing it.

The two siblings born in 1726, unless twins, are doubtful.

The brother by the same name is somewhat doubtful.

____________________________________________

His first wife Tabitha Adams (1741 - 1776) had the following children (here, on Geni): 1756, March 06, 1758, February 16, 1760, March 28, 1762, 1764, April 12, 1769, June 14, 1770, April 02, 1772, 1774, [Twins with the same birthdate, May 12, 1776 born in two different states (in Tennessee, very unlikely, and Tazewell Co., VA)], 1756, May 12, 1776, 1784, September 15, 1785, [May 31, 1788, May 31, 1788 (Twins?)]

He has no children with his second wife (here, on Geni).

But the source states from what I can gather, that upon his second marriage to Mrs. Elizabeth (Henry) Campbell he brought 9/12 living children into the marriage while she brought 1/2 living Campbell children.

His living children were William and Robert Spotswood (both at that time residing in Kentucky and Tennessee), Mary Henley (Russell) Bowen, Tabitha (Russell) Campbell, John, Samuel, Celah, Henry, and Chloe (described as the youngest, she was 6 mo. old when her mother died). The three already deceased were Katherine, Arthelia, and Henry.

So the source lists all twelve of his children by Tabitha.

By his second wife, Elizabeth (Henry) Campbell (p. 17), Gen. William Russell had four children: Henry Winston Russell (b. 1784, d. in infancy), Elizabeth Henry Russell (b. 1786), and twins Patrick Henry Russell (d. in infancy) and Jane Robertson Russell (both b. in 1788).

The two children she had by her marriage with Brig. Gen. William Campbell, who died in **1781**, were (p. 15): Sally Buchanan Campbell (age five when they married), and Charles Henry Campbell (died young, by then was already deceased).

I can only speculate on the discrepancies between the Geni record and the published Russell family genealogy.

He has the correct number of children. But the names and mothers don't line up very well with the source given.
