But https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Maples-84 has

Uncertain Parents

According most info/ genealogies, his parents were Unknown, and there is no source that shows Pieter Casperzen (Mabie or van Naerden) and Aechtje Jans (van Norden) had a son named Peter Maples, so they are marked as uncertain for now. We need sources that show who were his parents or proof these really where his parents..the parents seem to be based on this genealogy Peter Mahpoil/Mabille (b. Abt. 1665, d. Aft. 1692) and Aectie Jane Von Morden parents of Stephen Maples...

Note:, the Genealogical and Biographical Record of New London County, Connecticut, published by J.H. Beers & Co in 1907, on page 558According to Vickie Harris (Vickieiggy@aol.com) on her WFT Project site ("vlh, has the following information on Stephen Maples.

Stephen Maples was one of the earliest settlers on lands in the North Parish of New London. He appeared first at New London in 1712, when he was selected as one of the watchmen, called "the military watch". With others he was summoned before the Court of Commissioners on the complaint of the Indians in 1720, to show their titles to the lands they were occupying and improving. At the meeting of the Commissioners, held at the home of Joseph Bradford, 22 February 1720/21, the land titles, which had previously been in dispute were confirmed to the occupants, Stephen Maples being one whose land claim was sustained. He resided in the north part of the parish near the Norwich line, where many of his descendants continued to live. Spephen married Patience Fargo and they were united with the church at North Parish in April, 1726.[1]
