It is widely believed that Christopher Stumpf, son of Johann Georg Stumpf, who arrived in New York Harbor 1710 with many other German immigrants, was born 18 Jul 1700, and was baptized 19 July, 1700. This is another Christopher Stumpf. How can we be so certain?
The actual church records for Christopher Stumpf as described above was found in Archion.de, Hessen-Nassau Zentralarchiv der Evang. Kirche-Dekanat Darmstadt City- Lutheran- Trauregester, 1679-1711, Bild 189, 19 Jul 1700. He was born on Jul 18, 1700, and was baptized Jul 19, 1700. The burial records were examined, Beerdigungs, Hessen-Nassau Zentralarchiv der Evang. Kirche-Dekanat Darmstadt City- Lutheran- Trauregester, 1679-1711, Bild 458, 20 Jul 1700, p. 907. The family of Christopher, Johann Georg, continued to live in Darmstadt and have children until about 1724 which would not make it impossible for him to emigrate in 1709-1710.
