I am Mark Jackson. I am searching for my Jackson roots and are stuck on Robert Jackson, b. 1827 in Pennsylvania d. 1908 in Buffalo (Putnam Co.) WV. Family lore tells us he had an uncle John who had land grants in Mason County, John Jackson did in fact have six grants in Mason County-one was signed for by John Casto. One of his grants were held jointly with Thomas Carney. I can find the Castos and Carneys linked by marriage and in the same geographic area. But I am struggling to understand John Jackson's relationship with John Casto...then I found John Jackson Casto Sr.

Somehow my Jackson family is intertwined wiith the Castos and the Carneys. If I can figure this "uncle John who had the land grants," I hopefully can find the thread of my Jackson lineage prior to 1827. Can anyone help me with this, please?
