When I discovered a distant cousin in Israel many years ago, I sent her all my family to update her tree. There is a little of a language barrier. It is her massive tree where there are the errors. I'm afraid if I merge two ting might happen 1. her relationships will be the ones to show, not the correct ones 2) she will become the manager of the merged information, not me
The relationships are wrong because there is two copies. Merging those copies will fix the relationship.
Manager doesn't mean much on Geni. We're all on one giant tree with over 180 Million profiles. Most items on public profiles can be edited by any one else on Geni since Geni tracks and records all changes. Your close family and living family will always be private, but if you are a 4th cousin or closer to the profile you will still be able to edit it.
"she will become the manager of the merged information, not me" actually, when two profiles are merged on Geni, both managers become the managers of the newly merged profile. But it doesn't really matter anyway.
Further, if the distant cousin is too distant to be a member of your "max family", then Geni allows you to remove them as a manager after the merge, But, again, it doesn't matter much.
