Hello.
I have been trying for many years to find out more about James’ working life with the main contractor on the Castleton and Grosmont Railway just a few years before he died in 1870. This railway, in the North Yorkshire area, was built to ‘straighten out’ the existing line. These 2 stations still exist.
I am really hoping someone in his wider family knows about why he was so highly regarded by the workmen there, what he might have done for them even as a young man of about 25.
Thanks for any information.
