I would like to split myself and my parents from a tree that is not mine. How do I do that?

What do you mean when you say the tree is not yours?

I had begun a tree and a “relative” asked if they could manage it. I allowed them to and they have taken over merging their tree and mine, with incorrect information, and I cannot disassociate myself from the merged tree.
Failing being able to split and regain my tree and ability to add new information, how to I start a new tree?

If there is a wrong connection between profiles a basic user can disconnect the wrong profile only when it stays connected to the tree (otherwise you get the message it would split the tree).
So first connect the wrongly connected profile in the correct place in the tree and then cut the wrong connection.

If you still need help you can ask a curator to split the tree for you, by posting in https://www.geni.com/discussions/257430 (give a link the the problem profile(s) there).
