Replacing primary profile and old gedcom file with my own profile and gedcom

I imported the gedcom starting with my grandmother rather than my own. After it imported, it made my name for my grandfather's wife. I've tried to fix it by importing a new gedcom with my name being in there but it has become a mess. I've tried to delete the old gedcom and just start over but it seems that all the wrong information still remains, with me being the brother of my grand uncles. I just want to start over if possible. Any suggestions?

You can reverse the import of a GEDCOM that have have not deleted yet. As you have deleted the first GEDCOM that makes it much harder to correct.

Never try to import the same GEDCOM again without first reversing the import, as that will create duplicate profiles for all profiles that where imported the first time.

You should probably ask for help in https://www.geni.com/discussions/257430. A curator can undo merges and cut relations between wrongly connected profiles for you.

The Public Discussion Job gave the link to has been closed and continued here: https://www.geni.com/discussions/272643

You definitely want to get you yourself moved to your own profile. Possibly PM Mike Stangel for that, since I think he can do it and maybe keep you credited with adding the profiles you added.

When I look at your revision history a problem is the merge you did https://www.geni.com/merge/view?revision_id=84918729220.

Reversing a merge is error prone and especially if there where actions on the merged profile.
Please in future when you do a wrong merge do not try to correct it yourself but ask a curator to undo it for you. After it is undone you still have to check the profiles and may have to make some corrections.

I'm not sure what exactly went wrong for your GEDCOM imports, so I'm not going to try to correct it. I leave that to someone with more knowledge of this part of the tree.

Verna Mae Habeck Lois is correct, we have a tool that will move your account to an "Unknown" profile but still credit you with the work you've done. You can then set your name, and Job or I can help you link / merge your Unknown profile where it belongs in the tree. I'm going to do that now. Please send me an Inbox message (click my name to the left, then Send Message) and I'll help you with the latter.

kind regards,
