Keith, A. L. “Nicholas Yager and Descendants.” The William and Mary Quarterly, vol. 9, no. 3, 1929, pp. 186–200. JSTOR, https://doi.org/10.2307/1921300.

Indicates that Adam Yager married Susanna Kobler (currently listed as disputed in her About me section) in October of 1727. Copies of the JSTOR preview image of this article has been uploaded into the Media tab as a document, one has been edited to highlight the section that indicates this.

Note: Kobler is sometime indicated as Kabler instead. Her father's full name was Frederick Michael Kabler and is more commonly referred to as Frederick in the Germanna immigrant records.

Curator, death should be:
Died Between 18 Sep 1766 and 1775 Culpeper (now Madison) County, Virginia

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/89494236/susanna-yager 's bio appears to be in error saying her family came in 1717.
There is no record in the Germanna Foundation online database for a Barbara Zimmerman married to a Michael Kobler or Kubler or Kabler

There's a Mary Cobler born 14 Feb 1795 Virginia and died 9 Jun 1874
buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Gregg Township, Morgan County, Indian
Wife of Lamech Wilhoit, b. 25 Dec 1791, Madison County, Virginia

so perhaps there is a missing family?
No idea the origin of her family story.

I added some to the profile(s).
Thank you, Chris Carlson

Updated maiden name.

@Cynthia Curtis The Kobler/Kabler/Kapler's were with the 1717 immigrants during their time in England while they were awaiting transport to the colonies. They were among a handful of the Germans that petitioned to be returned to Germany during their wait and did not cross with the main group. When the petition was unsuccessful, they later found passage to the colonies and arrived in 1719, however since they left Germany with the 1717 group, they are considered part of the cohort.

My source for the above info is 'The Germanna Record #18: The Second Germanna Colony and Other Pioneers' by John Blankenbaker. This information is relayed in Part 1 of the book in the section called "The So-called Fifth Return Party". It explains why they weren't on the 1717 immigration record in Virginia. They all did not arrive in Virginia at the same time, but they all left Germany at the same time.

Reverted disconnect of parented Fredrick Michael Kobler & Maria Barbara Kobler

“ It explains why they weren't on the 1717 immigration record in Virginia. They all did not arrive in Virginia at the same time, but they all left Germany at the same time.”
Yes, I recall this stayed in Virginia group.
Very interesting.
Makes you wonder what would have happened had they been permitted to return to Germany!
So they are not part of the “1717 colony” because they came together from elsewhere but did not arrive at the final destination at the same time.
Like my Isaac Dilbeck who came before “the Original 13” aboard “America” but the “Concord” passengers are known as the settlers

I'm wondering about Susannah's maiden name as Kobler/Kabler as we don't have a maiden name for her in the Germanna Database that's maintained by Cathi Clore Frost, fellow genealogist at Historic Germanna and author of Germanna Record No. 19: The Yager Family: The First Five Generations. Cathi researched and wrote this book in 2010, so it's pretty current!

I will check for the information about Susannah, wife of Adam Yager, later today when I'm home and check the info that Cathi has and I'll update y'all.

Thanks!

Barbara Price, A509195 Please note that my source of information is:

The Germanna Record #18: The Second Germanna Colony and Other Pioneers" by John Blankenbaker.

I also have a copy of Cathi Clore Frost's:

The Germanna Record #19: The Yager Family: The First Five Generations.

Both of these sources have Adam Yager's wife listed as "Susannah" with no surname due to lack of evidence, however John's book references the William and Mary article from 1929 that names her as Kobler and his book also explains the gaps in their arrival times. Although I agree that the evidence is limited, the 1929 article is evidence and has been sourced for review above.
