I've been adding notes to the parents connected to this Margaret and her sister Patience

Patience Coppedge

I believe these sisters are connected to the wrong parents. I've attached an article from William and Mary Quarterly that makes it clear that Capt. William Downing married his wife Margaret in 1679. That would have been after Margaret and Patience were born. Additionally, the children named for Capt. William Downing and his wife Margaret are: William, John, Thomas, Mary and an unnamed daughter. No Margaret or Patience are mentioned. My 'guess' would be the unnamed daughter might well have been named Margaret after the mother, but the birth date of 1670 for this Margaret would rule her out.

Agreed.

Patience Downing, daughter of Thomas Downing, was born about 1672, probably in Northumberland County, Virginia. (Note: Married Well and Often gives name of her father as Wm. Downing. Wm. Downing was father of Thomas Downing, so perhaps that is where the error came in.)

However, https://www.colonial-settlers-md-va.us/getperson.php?personID=I8315... shows her as daughter of William Downing, son of Capt. William, and Mary Nicholls.

Here’s evidence for parentage:

Great work on that, Erica! Thanks so much! These connections were a mess and I needed your help!

I added some missing links, I think that was part of the problem.
