I found where the parents Jean Bertrand and Marguerite Robert came from. They're listed as the parents of Jean Bertraud on his naturalization record from Denizations and Naturalizations in the British Colonies in America, 1607-1775
It raises a couple of questions maybe someone can help me research:
1. Are Jean Bertraud and Jean Bertrand actually the same person, as in did Bertraud get changed to Bertrand in America like so many surnames were changed?
2. His naturalization record states that was done in SC but this Jean was in VA. So does that rule out having been naturalized in SC or did people sometimes have to travel elsewhere to get processed?
