DNA evidence that supports the view that Elizabeth Tanner (Ross) married Daniel Tanner includes that my mother, June Iris Daniel (a Ross) and the mother of David Anthony Taylor (Lula Mae Burns) match. My name is D. Emily Hicks. My mother's name: June Iris Daniel. Note: I lived with her from the tie I was born until I went to college and I knew her for her entire life until she died in San Diego (Del Mar to be precise) in 2017. I live in San Diego. June Iris Daniel's mother: Clara Iris Dickson. Note: I knew her. Clara Iris Dickson's mother: Winona Ross. Note: I knew her. Winona Ross's father: George Washington Ross. George Washington Ross's father: Francis Marion Ross. Francis Marion Ross's father: Isaac White Ross. David Anthony Taylor has done extensive research on the Ross, Tanner and related families. It is available on WikiTree.Taylor is the CEO of Black Pearls of Genealogy. In 1853, Julia Burns (former Tanner) was born. She was the daughter of Logan Michael Tanner and enslaved Francis Terry (born in Floyd, GA). Tanner and his wife migrated to Hempstead, Arkansas, as did Julia. Francis Terry's direct descendant, David Anthony Taylor, and I are cousins. Logan Michael Tanner was born in Rutherford County, North Carolina, where my Ross ancestors lived before migrating west to Texas in the 1850s. My great-grandfather, Allen Dickson, was born in Albertville in the Sand Mountain region of northern Alabama. I attended Ross family reunions in Texas when I was young and I am currently in contact with DNA-tested (we match) Ross cousins. My research has led me to the view that the Rosses are Redbones (the ethnicity, not the skin tone). The Ross-Nalley-Owen-Roberts families are related to the Hatfields and McCoys. The Melungeon author Lisa Alther writes about the Hatfields, McCoys and related families (including the Clines) in Blood Feud. I have found a link to the Cline-Smith-Roberts families. If you have information about these families (or a different interpretation of the data), you can contact me at marquesa@aznet.net If I have made errors (careless errors in dates/spelling etc.), please let me know so that I may correct them. My interpretation of the data is based on decades of research. I am an academic. I write about these families in academic books, and I want to be as accurate as possible.
