When I click on the NZ Portal link for the 'Cemetery Database' using Firefox I get this error:

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com. Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s).

Error code: SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP

If I use Chrome it opens correctly. Is there a way to make Firefox open the page OK? Thank you.

Use Chrome then.

Sorry, I don’t use Firefox, I only use Chrome.

Edge rejects that site as well. It can't be following current security rules.

OK, thanks for that. Interesting that Edge does not work either. All the best :)

There are different versions/levels of SSL / TLS.
Different browser (versions) are set to accept different ones by default.

Most likely the site has an "old" level it provides, and FireFox won't accept it.
But it might be the other way around if you haven't updated FireFox in a long time.

You should be able to open settings in Chrome and FireFox and see what is different.

So it fails in Edge for me, linking to:
https://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~shipstonz/cemete...

with
ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH

Which matches what I suggested:

Try these:

https://www.google.co.nz/search?q=ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATC...=

I tend to use Brave, but have not tried to enter that site sorry.

Indeed it says that the site is not secure?

Just take the 's' off the 'https' in the address bar - it's the security certificate causing that error.

This happens to my websites when the SSL cert has not been updated correctly. While you can get around accessing the site it is not something I would do in case it has been hacked or malware installed.

Using Chrome:
This site can’t provide a secure connectionfreepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com uses an unsupported protocol.
