Are there any sources and/or documentation for this Alexander Sells McDonald and his family connections?

Asking because my son has quite a number of DNA matches on Ancestry who have this person in their tree and Ancestry is trying to show them in ThruLines as being from my son's paternal McDonald line but I'm finding it challenging to validate the connections.

Thanks in advance for any additional information.

Additional info on the previous post.

This is a direct ancestor on my son's paternal side that Ancestry has DNA matches from the McDonald - Sells lines connected to:

Bryan McDonald

which is the Irish line.

There are at least a dozen trees on Ancestry showing the Irish connection instead of the Scottish connection here on Geni. I could conclude the Ancestry trees have an error, but I can't dismiss the fact that each of the tree owners is a DNA match not only to my son but to his dad's 1st cousin whose DNA matches I also have access to.

I just found this site that lists Alexander McDonald and wife Hannah Kirkpatrick:

Desc. of Alexander McDONALD, II by Alan Vance McDONALD

JUN 1857, Green County, TN. Alexander died 5 Sep 1834, Whitesburg, Jefferson Cnty, TN.

It has his parents as Alexander McDonald I and wife Margaret but they're not the same Alexander and Margaret connected here on Geni.

They are listed on Wiki:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/McDonald-7388

and Margaret's maiden name shows as Harrison

There are a number of descendants whose DNA results are noted on the righthand side of the Wiki page.

I haven't seen anything to validate that he had the middle name Sells and I doubt he did, as the Sells name came in farther down his descendant line from one of the wife's maiden name.

From what I've seen and haven't seen, I believe this Alexander Sells McDonald is connected to the wrong parents here on Geni, which would explain why I can't tie him to my son's McDonald line from Ireland even though the descendants are DNA matches. I'll be working tomorrow to see if my son is a DNA match to any of the ones listed on the Wiki page.
